I'm the type to forgive people if I see them regret their actions and do their best to change, so even if this story started in their past lives with Ido being a shitty dude, I'd still come to like him after he realizes he fucked up. I might even like him more than I do now. Because right now he just doesn't really seem sincere ? It feels like he's waiting for something. Or maybe it's his personality that makes him so distant? Anyways I don't really like how he only expresses himself with money (like buying things for Sejin). This might also be the reason why Sejin doesn't think of their relationship as a real relationship and more like a contract. ( ̄∇ ̄")
interesting take on his sincerity. honestly, I wish he had just focused on atoning for his past life crimes without trying to have both redemption and a relationship. It feels selfish because, instead of just correcting his mistakes out of guilt, he continues to take from Sejin. people who truly regret their actions and want to make amends do it solely for that reason. they understand they don’t deserve a second chance and should be atoning for the other person’s sake, not to fulfill their own desires. I wish he had kept his distance and never allowed their relationship to become intimate or made Sejin fall for him. It’s manipulative to win him over by becoming a better lover instead of just owning up to his past. I can’t forgive that, even if his plan was originally to fix his mistakes.. he still gave in to his selfish desires
When I read the spoilers I just feel like both of them are victims of the people around them. In the start where ML doesnt trust Sejin and is cold towards him is just understandable considering his Sejin's dad being an opportunist. when they finally loved each other another eff up happened. When youre angry/betrayed most people will do stupid things out of anger. People around them did them wrong. When Ido offed himself after realising Sejin was innocent that's enough redemption for me.
If I remember correctly from the novel, (spoiler) the reason why Ido married Sejin is because he knew Sejin's father is an asshole. He needed to go behind the bars sooner or later. His only way to free Sejin was to marry him. He didn't approach him after marriage..he only did so after Sejin told him to. His ultimate goal is to make him stand on his own so that he doesn't need his (trash) family's support or Ido's. Then leave him. He didn't really think that Sejin would fall for him. That wasn't part of his plan.
i've often wondered if readers would root for the ML in regression stories if we began their journey alongside them in their past lives. it seems that in regression plots, people tend to support the ML because we don't learn about their heinous actions until it's too late, and by then, we've already come to like them. while some readers do switch to disliking the ML after discovering their past actions, it often doesn't feel like it's enough
p.s it's not really a spoiler. if you've a brain you can piece two and two together
