I finished the novel and (spoiler alert) if it would bring you a little solace, the couple's dynamic is like who can do more damage to the other more because they can't seem to get on the same understanding till almost at the ending. They both tried to better themselves for the other across the journey.

On the latter half of the novel we get to see more suffering from the team leader tho because of his own self conflict (his admittance to how his sadistic tendency develop from when he was young) that gives him the constant urge to spank lee's cake for his breakfast, how he anguish and lost whenever lee gets mad or sulk or misunderstand, and his endless stress and headache for working on their incompetent company at the same time defending Lee in their workplace at the point of risking his own job and position.

Lee even told his team leader he'll resign anytime cause he felt so guilty of the difficulties tl han faces in keeping him in his team due to work politics just because Lee wishes tl Han to have him as his boss.

He's hopelessly in love and obsessed that to stop lee from crying scared in doing their bdsm deed, he proposed that they can do vanilla sex moving forward if lee wishes so. He'll give up on the bdsm plays

Lee on the other hand keeps forcing himself trying to get used to the pain and humiliation of their bdsm plays despite his violence trauma, the SA, and abandonment until he started to finally somewhat learn to enjoy it(painful to read sometime tho haha) solely because he's scared that if team leader han could not satisfy his bdsm kink, they will break up.

The main conflict of the latter half of the story revolves around that so yep its a mutual emotional damage on the two but you do get the satisfaction of each of them especially the ML in bettering themselves to get to a healthier romantic relationship.

Though this is a painful and toxic relationship, both of them is self aware and recognizes that. However there is a touch of realism that when you're too in love or dependent with someone you gets a tunnel vision and this brings consequences to you. And in this story, it applies to both of them.
