I know she's just a dumb teenager but she's also old enough to know. she's old enough to know to mind her business and she's a college kid so she should also know not to be a ignorant piece of shit. so no, she doesn't get a pass just because she's "a teenager". she's not 15, she's almost 20. and also, how has "ordinary" worked out for Mr. Kwon so far?? even tho we all knew this was coming I think it's more disappointing to see it come from a young girl and not the old, outdated woman/man we thought would be the first to raise hell.

but it's not totally surprising bccccc its south korea. South korea is extremely conservative and they had already hinted that they would likely go through many tests and trials trying to make a family work there. I guess this is the start of those gates being opened.

Yeah I'm not surprised either that this would be the initial reaction. Usually it is followed by acceptance after learning to understand and accept something different from the normal you have been taught about all your life.

Most asian households would have similar reactions to her honestly. My brother is gay and first came out in his early school days. My parents tried to suggest he date girls. They thought maybe it was because he only had sisters, only hanged out with girls, etc that he became gay. At some point, they even thought it was them that caused it. However you slowly learn to accept it because you love them and don't want to see them isolate themselves from yoy.

that's most likely how this will go. she'll create a big issue and she'll see she was wrong, which, I'm not against a character having growth and if she realizes her mistake and apologizes then that's good ! it's just unfortunate to face the reality that two people cannot be carefree and happy because someone else has decided its wrong based on their own beliefs and what THEY view to be a successful and enriching life. as tho the people in question aren't happy ??

I'm not Asian but in my culture/fam it's the same. it would be stronglyyy opposed and would receive a lot of backlash. I'm glad your parents have learned to accept it, and I hope your brother is comfortable and happy!! :))
