Welp... that definitely also makes me feel better for reading here... btw... as someone who doesn't use X/Twitter can someone please explain to me what was the author's islamophobic behavior? Like, I know why JK Rowling is a terf but this one I'm not clear about what happened. On this note... is astounding to me how some people make such nice/interesting art in general while being sugh bad human beings...
Wow... that explains... and while it does make sense people are unhappy about it... I must also say that... if it's just that it kinda feels like a mole out of a molehill? I mean... look at how many times gods of other religions are made to be villains in pop culture... even more if its just the name... I don't think I'd associate it with the religion if I just read that in a book/comic just like I think nothing when I see a villain names Jesus...
On the other hand I do also understand that it could feel offensive to people that is very religious and that it's a bad idea since Muslims are already persecuted enough. And it's a different case if it's done on purpose to be insulting so... yeah... still happy to be reading here just as I'm happy reading free versions of HP... ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Ngl... at first I was like wow the author must have said something pretty bad towards Muslims to get this kind of reaction from readers... like... something very insulting and that's certainly not ok. After the explanation I was... wait is that it? That's all? I mean... yeah they have a pretty bad image and don't need more tarnishing but... how many times the god of other religions are made the villain and no one says anything... and I don't even mean just the name like the author but really the said god... even the whole religion sometimes... so I can't help but feel that it's bad but exagerated?
Yup. I concord. Christianism has it harder in the East, but they don't get so overworked by this depiction in literature. Call her phobic just because she felt a bit creative there is beyond reasonable. If I make a female character the villain, what's next, I am a myso? A black character the villain? racist? a G4y dude? homophobic?... Please people need to take a step back and stop internalizing everything especially given the author did not express animosity against Muslims on a personal level. This is why I am not on Tw1tt3r, too much butt-hurt mentality, not enough critical thinking.
Yeah... that reminds me why I left there too... on the other hand... that's an actually pretty cool name phonetically... if the character per se has nothing to do with the religion I don't really see a problem... just like I think it would be cool to have a villain named Buddha or how theres plenty named Jesus... ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Finding out the author’s an islamophobe makes me feel better that I’m reading it unofficially I also did find it a little icky when the fl would feel up the dad when he was out of the bath and making all those ‘i love bulging muscles’ jokes
