But maybe we shouldn't victim blame as we know the environment mc grew up with, so we can justify his actions, also everyone in the world wants a sense of belonging. I think its reasonable for him to stick around as people who were abused as a kid will seek relationships as adults with abusers as there is a sense of comfort in that abuse. Unfortunately this man has 3 so yeah and they are all very rich which also is like a power dynamic, the emotional abuse the mc has been put through prior to the Horrific events already messed him up. It also seems he had no time to actually heal from prior abuse inflected by his dad.

1. He was abused from childhood.
2. He was never stable, emotionally or financially.
3. The ml literally manipulated him to the point where his only friends are his, his finances are dependant on him, his emotional support, social life, etc are all dependant on him, when you're a victim of manipulation. U will always struggle to leave. And find ways to justify your abusers abuse.
