Not sure if anyone else also feels this way but there’s so many plot holes?? And I just feel confused so hopefully someone can enlighten me/maybe I missed things or maybe you’ll have the same questions
1. I was under the impression when Asher and Lou were first introduced that they were in a love triangle with Ray before they met Kile. Hence the animosity between Asher and Lou… Was the only reason for their animosity the sheer fact that their plan to help Ray escape from Edith turned out bad? I really thought Lou was in love with Ray at first bc they looked so intimate with each other in the flashback panels and vice versa bc Ray seemed so sweet with Lou. And Asher was the third wheel in that scenario.
2. How did Lou fall in love with Kile so fast? While he was keeping watch over him? But if he did fall in love with Kile while keeping watch over him, it doesn’t make sense why Lou would willing use Kile as bait for Ray… it just felt like Lou was originally in love with Ray but since he was supposed to be dead he fell in love with Kile as his replacement afterwards. It should’ve been made more clear where Lou’s turning point in realizing what the differences between the twins were and why he loved Kile in a different way from Ray
3. I feel like the ending was rushed, like other comments said it felt like all this could’ve easily been solved just by Atropos taking away Ray’s power to begin with. But I thought the whole point of her not doing anything was because the Bureau wanted that power to themselves? And if Atropos can give and take away ESP since she is with the Bureau they could have given Ray’s ESP to a willing devoted Bureau ESP person that is willing to be a military weapon? They did mention that ESP will always want to return to its original owner and that normal people can’t handle the ESP “core” all of a sudden but I feel like there needed to be a bit more world-building for how esp works in this world. I would have liked if they delved into the human esp experimentation bit that Edith mentioned to explain how they found out about how esp reversion between twins worked etc. It all kinda makes sense but also feels lacking somehow
4. Also the way the Bureau guy turned his back on Edith so quickly at the end and changed their tune so easily didn’t make sense if they devoted so many resources already to capture Ray alive for them to give up so easily. You’d think that they want to do anything to have Ray’s ESP in their grasp which they actually did get in the end except that it’s with Atropos
5. I didn’t like how in the end the author made Edith “in love” with Ray when it seemed like the whole time Edith was after Ray’s ESP for himself and was only using Ray… it just seemed like Edith was obsessed with Ray’s power. I think it would have made more sense if he was just a cold-hearted emotionless mafia guy with an endless greed for power
Overall this story had so much potential to be even better/make more sense but I enjoyed the characters and their emotions/angst lol
