The villainess in the modern world is a more interesting story.

So far what I got is that MC (the guy) was really a pushover. Their family are very poor, his father is a gambling addict and I'm guessing the father was kicked out of the house. After a while, the father met up with mc and mc being the pushover that he is, gave the key to their house. Then one night (the one mentioned in the news article), the father broke in their house, mu*de*ed the mom and set the house on fire or something. The father was arrested but damage was done. This is why the mc's brother hated him so much. This could also explain why as Layla, mc is such a pushover.

Anyways, please correct me if I'm wrong. I really wish the modern setting one has a full version. It's so interesting to see og Layla discover life of being poor and stuff.
