Probably. It's unfortunate, there's also the possibility that the gov gets revealed to be just as messed up or worse as a plot twist.
The plot has been driving at the Mc and the demon king ml ending up together because the author seems to be pointing at the ml being literal poison and the Mc finding a cure to drive the toxin out of him, the poison having always been in him. I hope that makes sense. That’s what I am getting. The governor is more of a distraction, even though he is great.
it would be great if the king dies due to the imae poison and the mc ends with the governor but knowing bl it’s unlikely that it will happen. i just want the governor and mc to be happy with each other cause the way they look at each other is so beautiful, but mc will probably end up with the person who literally enjoys murdering his people
