To those who are apprehensive of reading the past or are willing to entertain the though of doing so, I say please consider reading it.
The past does give us a lot of insight into Sol/"Jack" and Lorkan's/Heron relationship and why the two countries are at such odds with each other. It is also essential to seeing just how sick and twisted Lorkan is as he deliberately ostracizes Ian to keep Ian to himself even after knowing for years that Brian and his reincarnations would always have mana powers. Lorkan intentionally makes it so that Ian has to rely on him as a savior in a country Lorkan created to hate mana from the beginning. Sick and twisted.
Which is important to compare to how Sol and Brian's country is nurturing because Brian wanted it to be built that way. We see in the past the efforts it took to build such an amazing kingdom of peace and serenity after much sacrifice and team work. The country was built for prosperity and thriving and the past helps us see that Sol really made a lot of self reflections and worked on himself to be the amazing ruler he is today.
The past backstory is a drag sometimes with the political talk, but even when getting into the nitty gritty it still makes it not as boring as some other manga/manga/manhua. It emphasizes just how difficult and what sacrifices Brian and those around had to make to build the country they know and love.
The past also gives more insight into the lore of the dragon and what roles they are suppose to play.
So if u do decide to read it just pace yourself we have a while to get out the third and final season anyway.
