The shape shifting or the plot?
The red shirt guy hired people to rob and kill the mc, so he could say to the ml that he lost the drugs, so he wouldn't have to share the profits of selling it. But the people he hired betrayed him BC they realise how much money was in their hands, and took the drugs, but now, for some reason, red shirt thinks that the mc did it and is running away with all the drugs, or that he teamed up with the ml so they could make all the profit and frame him.
This is just what I think is happening tho
