Also, about Law using Moritat on Jesse. I'm mad that he used this thing on Jesse, but at the same time, I can't be mad at him. He wanted Jesse all to himself. Like the way Jesse consumes Law's mind, I feel like Law wanted Jesse to go through the same thing -- have Law consume Jesse's mind. And again, despite all what Law did to Jesse, it was the only way for him to truly have Jesse all to himself. Law truly connects with Jesse no matter how toxic it is. And Jesse, he took it all, and in the end, he does go back to Law. That just proves to me that Jesse thinks of Law as someone important and worth being with. Jesse definitely connects with Law.
*Super long post -- sorry!
One thing is for certain: I gotta re-read this story to understand it better.
In the beginning, I could understand what was going on but then I decided to put the story on hold when there was enough chapters updated so I could read a good bulk of the storyline at once. But even when I did that, I was still kinda confused with what was happening. I kept reading everyone's comments to see if anyone had some clear explanations to aid in my understanding of the story.
So far, I get that Law and Jesse have a history that's intense, twisted, and manipulative. Despite that, I genuinely think they do care for each other and have love for each other. It's just the way that they're communicating is unhealthy, but then again, I can't blame either of them for hurting/manipulating each other. Just look at how they're treated by family and other people.
Law had shitty parents that merely saw him as an object to help them reach their goals in life. He wasn't treated with love from them. They put an immense amount of pressure on him to get in good with the Brown Family. They're constantly telling him to not fuck shit up with the family. With this, Law has to be on his toes and basically be a different person when he's dealing with the Brown Family. However, there are times when we do see Law being normal and comfortable around Jesse because Jesse knows what's up. Over some time, Law definitely developed romantic feelings for Jesse and got jealous when other people tried to get Jesse's attention though un-genuine actions.
Jesse seems to be disconnected with his family and knows that he's treated and looked at differently from everybody. Jesse knows that people try to butter him up by being friends and spoiling him, but those peoples' intensions aren't genuine at all. Those people are using Jesse as a way to get ahead in their families careers and lives. When Jesse is with Law, we see him let Law into his personal thoughts and emotions whether it is intentional or unintentional. With this, Jesse likes Law's company. He even tells Law to think only of him 24/7--have only him on Law's mind. Jesse tells his mother to basically back off and not put a leash on Law.
That's one of the ways I believe Jesse and Law were able to connect with each other. They both know people look at them as ways to rise up in life. They have this bond and when they're together, they're comfortable enough to be normal and manipulative at the same time. In other words, these two boys definitely understand each other well.
But then it gets confusing with that machine project, Moritat. The Brown Family created that thing but Jesse is smart enough to know what it can do to a person. Unfortunately, Law uses it on Jesse and starts to fabricate all these false memories, scenarios, and situations that leaves most of the readers confused as hell. I'm still confused with the whole Moritat thing but that just means that I have to pay more attention to what is happening in those scenes.
Anyway! I notice a lot of people pissed at Law or pissed at how it ended, etc. Honestly, I do hope that we get some extras or even an epilogue chapter? But if we don't get any of that, then it's fine. I am OK with how it ended. This story centers around Law and Jesse's relationship and how fucked up it is. They're both manipulating each other but what else can they do? They were raised in a toxic environment and treated disrespectfully by their loves ones. Jesse runs back to Law, in the last chapter, and we see Law hooked up with the Moritat. We see that image of a youthful happy-looking Jesse, which is Law's image of Jesse. We see how Jesse is talking with Law and their expressions and body language. I believe that they find solace in each other and truly want to be together.
