i absolutely love typical highschool romcom like kimi ni todoke amongst many others. but one of my favorites has always been horimiya. i was a huge fan of the manga and the 2021 adaptation was just as great. i think i realized that i like horimiya much more than other famous romcoms is that hori and miyamura have a much more mature and realistic relationship? it doesnt take two seasons for them to hold hands, they talk about a variety of topics, they have arguments. one thing that set it apart from other romcoms is that both the manga and shows are pretty straight forward about the main couple having sex. and what i love is that they didnt use this as an excuse to go full gooner mode or turn it all lewd. they just made it a casual implication, and its treated like a normal thing in a relationship. this was a huge breath of fresh air in a way? i read horimiya throughout middle school and highschool and it felt so good seeing characters my age act like normal teenagers would instead of everyone being a bit of a baby ig? im wondering if theres more manga or anime like this. i want it to be school shows but even as a teenager myself i realize that it might come off as creepy to ask for "deeper" relationships between highschoolers.... i hope you understand. one problem is that if i look up stuff like this, its always erotic content, hentai, just lewd stuff in general. i dont want the series to revolve around sex nor do i want it to be the main plot. i just want to see these themes treated as something normal, because they are also normal and important to relationships irl.
