That's weird. The novels all have illustrations throughout the book (with the cover's curly haired Luo Binghe). Since the illustrator was Chinese, I figured it was someone from the original publishing house. They rarely put that much extra effort to add so much to their local version.
The illustrator for the english cover is a chinese-american artist, Velinxi. She is an artist for the english publishing house 7seas, not the original publishing house. I guess 7seas just wanted to have more illustrations in the novel.
The chinese books got two covers versions, of when was first released with illustration of the same artist of mdzs and in 2022 another artist called wu suo for the 5h anniversary release.
