can you imagine the ecological effects of making cats locally extinct?? no predator means increased rodent populations, assuming relatively low-quality hygiene, disease probably spreads easily. rodents could carry/spread disease outbreaks further and expose people to new diseases. Rodents also chew/eat various materials and could threaten the structural integrity of buildings/ships. there’s also economic ramifications as rodents often eat/soil products/produce.
cats existed in that empire for a reason, and tbh even if they try reaaaaaaally hard, you’re not going to be able to eradicate cats. they’re hella good at repopulating lol. ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
