It's probably because he is yet to figure out that's his friend not the guy from the story. I feel like that's why he asked his manager to burn all the painting so the real Humin (that he thinks is with him now) won't regain his memories.
I feel like his friend got transferred in the novel too....This Iheon is acting like his friend that's supposed to be in America.
