This was so good. It did feel like that it was actually inspired by Banana Fish with all the mafia stuff. The plots are obviously much different from each other, but the resemblance of the two MCs' designs are a bit too obvious.

I feel a bit confused by the end. Almost everyone in the Babine family dies leaving the few members who already got caught. Then we move onto Edward who commits suicide, but Harry gets away with his illegal experimentations in the orphanage? I don't get it. I don't think he got caught. He was one of the bigger perpetrators in the story. Everyone else got their comeuppance.

I did feel a little bad when Max's dad died. He was a shitty human being, but tried to save his own son the best as he could. I wish he didn't die and just got arrested by the end. It would be one less trauma for Max. The dude is already carrying an entire lifetime of baggage with him, now he even has to remember killing his own dad.

The detective couple was the cherry on top. I would love to have a small spin-off about them and how they got together when they were young.

I cringed every time they flashbacked to Max and Alex banging, lol. I get it, they dated in the past. I don't need to see them banging to know that. It wasn't like Alex was even serious. He only saw sleeping with random men as a part of his job description.

I appreciate the fact that the author didn't shy away from showing Max vulnerable, emotional and crying. Usually the stoic and physically strong men are always shown to be devoid of any emotions. Max was simply just a victim of his circumstances. He never knew how to truly express his emotions. It makes sense he would be vulnerable with Chris because he let him be himself.
