No Im hating on the emperor equally but yes I can conclude from that, that she is evil, you can tell she is, her maid she could've stopped her but she didn't. You can tell Lin has been feigning innocence for a long time, You can see that lin has been jealous for a long time now (yes I know people can be jealous and not evil but like it's too much of a coincidence where all these things keep happening but lin somehow doesn't know)
Oh my bad I just realized u were the previous person I responded to who hated the emperor just as much lol.
I still disagree with the Lin thing though. Usually we have a lot of fake white lotuses but I genuinely believe she was just very isolated (because of the dumbass emperor who wouldn't let her have a normal life and instead forced her into a position she and everyone around her did not want) so she hold the people she likes dear.
She thinks the emperor is nice but she's burdened by his affection. I think that if she genuinely wanted his love and was evil she would have monopolized it purposefully until now.
Everytime we've seen the twi together, Lin is trying to turn him down and get away lol. But with the empress, she is genuinely star struck. And the blushing!!! My god the blushing. That is a woman feeling at the very least a girl crush for the first time in her life.
Now it's true that the story will lead to her becoming jealous and conniving and doing whatever she can to maintain her position but until now I really think she has been as honest as she can.
Sorry for the yap fest lol
Lool oh my gosh I just realised too, and yeah it's true what your saying too the emperor is a big part of lin being isolated hence her feeling like that annoying maid wass her only true friend she could trust. I can understand what your saying where she was interested in knowing who the empress was but I still dunno about her being starstruck. But yes the story is heading in that direction.
Lol that's fine I also spoke a lot. At least we both agree on the emperor.
I never trusted Lin from the start. Why? Her maids are so out of order and yet she does nothing to control them.
Now can she control her entire palace of maids and their actions? No.
What I’m talking about is how she deliberately kept entertaining that “empress’s maid” that spies on the empress and comes to deliver gossips and stuff. She never once chased that maid away, and even though she acted a bit annoyed, she still accepted the maid to come in every time to slander the empress with San Lang.
Look at that candy incident. Sure you can say she defended San lang because she likes her, but you never once see her reproach or lecture sang lang to stop bothering the empress. We see her defend the empress, yes, but again she never once explicitly tells Sang Lang to stop. As a result of her feigning naivety, Sang lang got so arrogant that she ended up killing a concubine and even though she claims she trusts Sang lang, she should’ve known that Sang Lang dislikes the empress enough to do some dumb shit like that.
Sometimes, stories don’t mention everything going on in a character’s head, you have to read between the lines (which you might be doing) But i honestly think the author is a bit misleading in their storytelling. At first we’re made to suspect that Lin has a girl crush on the empress and doesn’t like the emperor, but all of a sudden is like “whoops she wants the emperor’s affection and is jealous of the empress”??
Also I’m beginning to wonder if Lin has some sort of attachment issues? You can see she’s clearly attached to Sang lang. She didn’t like the emperor’s affection, but she still stuck around, I know the oblivious emperor kept sticking to her too, but still, she just quietly went along.
Then the empress starts talking to her and she’s really fascinated, but the moment the emperor and and empress starts getting closer she gets jealous (but it’s not because she has a crush on the empress as we’re led to believe). Now Sang Lang is gone and she’s already trying to poach that girl to come work for her, possibly becoming the new Sang Lang.
Do you know how classist society was back then? If the king wanted you, you had no say. Be it a noble lady or a not even legal girl, if the king wanted your hand, he had it. Let's not even talk about a maid(I don't quite remember but wasn't she a peasent?).
She has no one on her side and no one to back her. It's not about feelings. I honestly doubt any of the kings consorts have actual feelings for him. It's about survival.
I feel like y'all are being too hard on her. I get where you're coming from cause in most stories the friend turns into a bitch and ik that's probably what's gonna happen here but TILL NOW, all her actions have been understandable.
Please don't let Lin become evil now wtf
