I really agree!! Also, I think people (other comments) are forgetting that the front lines are where people, like, die? And medic tents get bombed. So, she is definitely safer there (and she has a friend, Ryan).
At this point, Annette has basically completed her personal growth arc. All thats left in her story, is learning to reconcile her feelings for the ML. There wouldn't be much of a story if she stayed where she was.
I LOVE how complicated the ML is. He even admits to not knowing what real love is and knows that he's corrupted inside (and maybe evil ?). At this point he seems unredeemable but am sure the author will spin the story around and we'll get our redemption arc.
