THANK YOU FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS!! the comments under here are so unreal and yea while mc didn’t use the best means, there’s barely any options to get ml back on his feet again. readers, like inwoo, are misunderstanding what intervention is. it’s not degrading to receive help or care or to have someone pity you… and sometimes the sick person themselves would rather self sabotage and die over receiving care. however its beneficial there are people similar to mc who risk a bond just to save their lovers life. being alive and resentful is better than dead and full of regretful
true, i feel like most people can only look at situations in a black or white manner.
but even from a black and white manner, its obvious inwoo has issues and thats not going anytime soon, the mc needs to be with the ml for his wellbeing since he barely eats a meal with him around, there's a high chance of inwoo passing out on the floor with no one to help.
if the readers really care about inwoo, they'd want him alive atleast i'd hope. instead of going at the mc's neck for 'doing something uneccessary' parrotting what the ml says. the intervention was much needed, they can't go on like this else it was only a matter of time till something drastic happens to the ml w the way he's going. and tbh im concerned for jiwoo as well, none of them are doing mentally well atm.
also dont like how people give 'take him to therapy' as a solution but completely forgot about the reason inwoo got mad at jiho in the first place, it was because he thought jiho pitied him, and thinks somethings wrong with him. bringing up therapy only amplifies that notion, making things worse. you're on point w how sometimes the sick person would rather self sabotage and die than receive care
it’s so relieving to see someone who approaches the story with respect and knows that illness does not excuse any and all behavior. mc is the ONLY person inwoo wants to rely on and i’s terribly unhealthy, isolation does him so much harm and it’s only amplified if one person = the only vulnerable bond
this is a hard pill to swallow for some readers but pity is not bad when it’s given in this manner. pity is empathy and understanding. it signifies a desire for that person to be safer, healthier, and overall better. also it was great how the story showed very real stigma against therapy, and how it forcibly navigates what mc can do for inwoo with very little options. something is wrong with inwoo and that’s okay, but with his upbringing it’s 100% understandable why he’s so triggered with the label.
i feel like people are misunderstanding mc. there’s a huge difference between “i love you and you need help because you’re unwell” vs “you need help and i look down on you for it, and think of you differently”
reading the past 6 chapters back to back, i understand why the mc did what he did
yall call him selfish all you want but did yall not read when the mc was coming home everyday and his lover would hardly eat without him, had writers block, was always sleeping, the kitchen untouched, bones pokin out from his skin, skipping meetings, skipping work, coming home early, losing interest in hobbies and the thing you like most 'food', could tell he was depressed the way he threw the food he really liked in the bin i really thought to myself what happened to him. i loved the line ' you're bound to have conflicts when living with someone who's broken'
and taking care of someone like that for longs periods of time can only make you depressed, you want to help but the only family he could reach out to of the ml was his mother. and what better did he know? what do you think he should've done as a 'rational' person? taken him to the therapist and when the ml asks why, 'do you think something is wrong with me?' 'do you think i'm pitiful and need help?' and brings up the current situation all over again. sure calling his mother was the wrong move but the mc really had no option other than letting the current situation continue, or do something about it.
im really liking the writing on these few chapters on thier conflict, i actually thought it was quite well written.
