Maybe in the short time before he killed him himself he truely regretted how horrible he treated his cousin. Considering by the time he recaptured him, all he wanted was for him to stay by his side even if he didn’t love him. So maybe the spirts and gods took pity and also gave him Karma. They’re blood brothers, they’ll always be close, but he can never love him.
