I’m believe it was because when they signed contract ML said that he will not knot him or mark him. He did just that during his rut and therefore violated the contract. I think the lie is because Nox thought that ML didn’t truly like it was more because of his pheromones. ?

Yes yes, as Kacawat explained, Lucian broke the contract as he "lied" when he promised that he would not knot or mark Nox when they made the contract (see chap 3)
