Haruki isn't a coward. Haruki is just a teenager and as one he choose what he thought was best as he saw how 2 or 3 classmates died bc of this bullying and he didn'twant anyone else going through that. He literally worries about people getting hurt, which is important due to how this can be interpreted in a physical and emotional state. So, Haruki also worries about his parents getting hurt for his own choices that literally got out of control. It also worries him what his parents might think of him for being bullied especially since he's a boy and the whole stereotype linked to being one like "why didn't you defend yourself? are you really that weak? why didn't you ask for help?" It's difficult to make a right decision in such a complicated setting, he knows that even if he told his parents his situation wouldn't change much as he also doesn't ask for help from anyone due to the others being afraid of also being bullied (just by the whole perspective of the japanese school system that the author shows us in the manga you can realize this).
Besides, he is used to handle the bullying by himself. We can see that even the teachers don't do anything about this problem so what can his parent's possibly do? If Haruki told them they could've done 1) transfer him to another school or 2) tell the principal or homeroom teacher. Both options don't do much if the system he's in doesn't change at all since it's usual for the bullying to continue or get worst with both options rather than stopping because Haruki will be seen as a weak target just by it. And lastly, maybe tell to the police. But that's unlikely due to it being a manga.
It sucks to be in this kind of tricky and difficult situation.
A person isn't a coward for not telling someone else that they're being bullied, is because they feel and think that they won't get the help they need even if the ask for it due to all the previous bullied victims's deaths and the social context in which bullying occurs which in this manga, seems hopeless and plain tragic because, aside from the bullies, even the teachers are willing to abuse their students.

Yeah, I understand. I just don't like how Haruki deals with the bullying on his own it's awful and sickening to my stomach. Fortunately, Shirayuki shows up in his life. But, if he didn't could Haruki be driving to suicide? Like what happened to that schoolgirl in the early chapters.
I knoww, I think it's a 70/30 % for Haruki, like he might commit suicide if Shirayuki never appeared in the first place or not but it's a lot more possible the suicide as he's in an environment that let bullies go unpunished by the school and police.
I honestly don't like Shirayuki even if he somehow "saved" Haruki from his bullies. I mean, he's literally a sociopath but I guess in this kind of messed up world it's fine. But, I don't like him too much as e's pushes Haruki to date when Haruki doesn't even know what he truly wants for himself. Haruki is still vulnerable and as we saw in the latest chapters prone to end up in bad situations again and again. :((
I just wish Haruki has a happy ending, he already suffered a lot.
