I'm pretty sure that his ex is still alive. There was mention of some scandal/fiasco but not that the ex died. And if Shin have had killed him, I'm pretty sure he would went to prison. He was caught by the police few times but I don't think he was in prison.
For the second, I think by saying exboss/lover that person meant the same person. I think it was said that Shins ex was also something like his superior.

Yeah it was an old boss at a previous garage that was super kinky and always wanted Shin to do weird sexual shit with him. When Shin had enough, he tried to ruin his life and spread rumors about him.
