Rape Things

FluffBall-Sama September 24, 2024 5:04 pm

It is pretty concerning why rape are normalized in BL and I know it even in 2020 where I first read BL, but its getting worse and many more plots are related to rape.

Does japanese and koreans dont complain about this? Or they just dont care? Or authors really dont care?
(I know that there are other stories involving rape, but most BL stories I seen comes from this country)

Are there any reddit or other post related to complaining about this?

Im genuinely curious on what is happening....

It's so surprising that this issue is only increasing rather than decreasing due to multiple complaints . Do people who are in official websites, Don't care at all ??? What's happening

You know people have been putting grape in fiction since way back then right? Ex: 120 days of sodom. It’s not really new tbh also if you look on ao3, there are so many fanfics with rape inside them, you go on pixiv AND BOOM grape Fanart/art, go on TW MORE FICTIONAL GRAPE. No one is doing anything about it because it’s all fiction, no one is actually getting graped. (And before all you fiction vs reality people come for me, I’m just stating what I believe is happening, I’m not trying to argue). Anyways I’m just trying to say that it’s not just Korea and Japan, fiction in general is just full of grape and toxic elements, there’s no help to it. But the fact is that censorship of toxic elements in fiction is getting more serious in countries like the U.S. For example, schools are banning “to kill a mocking bird” and a lot of people in the west believes that there should be a limit to what people should or should not put in fiction unlike the east which just doesn’t gaf, which is also why many books, kids shows etc are getting watered down and becoming more “family friendly” cause they’re scared of getting cancelled, which is not the sort of thing you’ll usually find in countries like Japan or Korea.

Ut first point is kinda dumb since they didn’t say anything along the likes of “there was no grape back in the days in stories”, 2nd point they are saying why
Its normalised in BLs when it really shouldn’t be since they romanticise it A LOT and 3rd of all why leave this dumbass comment if dont wanna argue, it looks like your defending it.

Oh for fuck sake, I’m just answering the question. They asked why it’s so normalized nowadays and I was saying even back then if someone wrote a story with grape in it, no one gave a shit. And you say it sounds like I’m defending it, I don’t know what to say to that except the fact that I came here after reading a million dead dove fanfics on AO3 where literally no one was complaining about there being romanticized grape so it’s just strange to see people here having different opinions despite these things being almost the same. I don’t go around saying “I love grape in fiction” nor do I go around saying “grape shouldn’t be normalized in fiction”. I’m just stating that perhaps dark elements in fiction is always there and people are the ones who recently started saying stuff about it.

I do understand your opinion with regards to this, but saying that no one gave a shit regarding rape plots back then is clearly just you.

And I was curious about this "not the sort of thing you’ll usually find in countries like Japan or Korea"
Are there any sources on why you conclude that korean and japanese dont care about such things?
I think most people are woke now and I just want to know there opinions about this.

You might have gotten offended cuz OP added " Japanese and Korean " comics here.

But let me clarify somethings .
First of all OP added those countries name cuz mostly here we can find Chinese , Korean and japnese comics. Western comics from US and such are rarely found. Yes you are right rape has been added in fiction for a long time now . But compared to previous generation nowadays , we have massive number of viewers all around the world for BL and Internet is everywhere and awareness can be especially spread through internet. But even then rape is being heavily used in comics especially in Korean Manhwas . It's questionable cuz is no one talking about this in main platform?? This is what OP is trying to say / ask .

    - you said it's fictional so it's isn't rape . I have to strongly disagree and Voice my opinion on this cuz if it's fiction , then a fictional character is getting raped . So in the end it's still rape . We sympathize over sad plots right ? .. Your fav bl " Rainbow city " ..touches your heart right ... So just cuz it's fiction. It doesn't matter saying is wrong .

I have to add.. previous generations Yaoi mangas had alot of rape but nowadays this in Japanese mangas have significantly decreased. It should be the same in Korean ones but why just why is it increasing more ?....

It clearly got out of hand, back then, most rape cases in BL comes from the ML or seme, but nowadays, it got a lot worse and other people involved in a gang bang.

It is really out of hand, I thought this isn't profitable because of peoples moral and authors will avoid it because they learn lesson from the past, but it is not. It is getting really dangerous and supporters dont seem to care regarding it.

Listen, okay I’m not good with words so im sorry I may say some things that are questionable. What I meant was, the fact that grape in fiction is normalized in Japan and Korea, just shows people in those countries don’t speak up on those things as much as they do in the West. Like say if you were to grab a BL with grape and put it on a mostly western dominated website then people are sure to speak out about it. so that’s why most western fiction doesn’t have elements that are as dark as ones you find in Korean fiction and Japanese ones. (I’m not saying the west doesn’t, it’s just not as hardcore), but the fact that so many of those things are on Korean sites such as Ridi and L*zhin is really the proof that they’re not as sensitive to this topic, I’m not saying they don’t care about issues such as grape, I’m saying that the fact they have those things on their websites is proof that they aren’t that sensitive to the subject.

Ohh thats it, you are right, I originally meant that most BL come from korean and japan, while chinese really tone it down or censor it a lot.
This was my original intention by saying: (I know that there are other stories involving rape, but most BL stories I seen comes from this country)

So thank you for defending and understanding my statement!!

Listen, I’m not saying fiction isn’t rape. Rape is rape, but at the end of the day it’s still not the same as actual grape just as a fictional character at the end of the day is not the same as a real person. It’s still bad, please don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying just because it’s fiction, it’s okay. I’m saying as much as it’s the same thing, there’s still a line drawn between fictional grape and real grape. As for your last point I really have no idea.

Also, it’s not about it being Japanese or Korean.(I’m sorry if I gave off the impression I was offended) I’ll say it again that I wrote and read fan fiction on websites such as ao3, and the elements in there are similar to ones you would find in BL, Same with websites such as pixiv, yet it’s so normalized and no one is complaining, so it’s just strange to me how people on here have different opinions regarding such things
