Absolutely!! I personally don't think JJ is intentionally hurting Leo. Leo is interpreting JJ's actions as such and rolling with it. JJ isn't bad for wanting to protect his heart from someone who is so careless with it.

By going with the hints given to us, JJ does say what he wants or dislikes but Leo brushes him off or still does what he wants. Repeat that many times, JJ would most likely just give up on trying to talk. My guess is JJ understands Leo being dense and immature but the disrespect was beyond tolerating that immaturity. And what I mean by disrespect is Leo habitually getting drunk and have JJ as chaffeur and brushing him off whenever he says something. Basic manners of being a boyfriend to be exact.
Part of the problem is Leo wants everything fed to him. Including what's wrong with him - still from JJ. When Leo can easily talk to others to ask what he has been doing wrong. Even if he didn't know and insist he was never wrong, he can always ask others about it. Just not JJ because the guy is already fed up with him.
This. Team Leo always say JJ is doing things intentionally. Whatever JJ does will hurt Leo and that's a fact because it hurts to be told the truth, to be broken off. Living life because the world and time will not stop for them, for JJ, will hurt Leo. So to coddle Leo because he is hurting is just another way of babying him. The guy needs to grow up. And JJ is not being childish, he is just moving just as the earth and time is. JJ did not plot anything to ruin Leo, he just accepted a job that kept being offered to him. The many times Leo dismissed JJ, most likely JJ told him about the job, Leo was just not listening up until JJ broke up with him.

This would have been over if he just asked others what was wrong. When JJ snapped at the club, it was pretty obvious what JJ wanted. Leo must acknowledge he is immature, and find out on his own what the problem is, not ask JJ for it, because JJ has been feeding him everything. Finding out on his own is the simplest he can do to be somewhat independent. It's a way of seeing JJ not 'me me' like you described. Leo could've asked his sisters and Frank, Frank being the best person to ask.
JJ did give him a chance, he was open to reconcile but he is not waiting. Time moves and there's nothing cruel about that. I don't get why others insist Leo was not given any chance.

Follow me on this if you may, imagine yourself really really wanting a job in a company that has a good salary and good bonuses etc. A vacant position comes up and you apply for it. You pray on it to be given a chance for the job. You are called for an interview and without 'we'll call you back' shenanigans you are hired on the spot. Remember this is a job that you wanted. You start off so enthusiastic and passionate that even your employees and colleagues are impressed and see greatness in you. The salary, allowances and bonuses are good even great because they don't get affected even in bad economic climate because the company really cares for it's staff. Out of nowhere though you start showing up late, you start doing your work poorly which ends up affects your output. You are so used to your company treating it's workers good that you believe doing half assed work even over a long period of time won't get you in any trouble but one day you are called in an fired with immediate effect. The ego boost you got from the good job made you forget the fundamentals of being a good person which is empathy and humility. You are not given an explanation you are just told to leave and leave your pass on the desk. Is the company really wrong for firing you without notice when you've not been doing your tasks as you should because bitch you signed a contract stating you'd do your job well and any sign otherwise would solicit termination with immediate effect??
By default of being a shitty boyfriend Leo isn't owed an explanation for the break up even if JJ loves him. A relationship is like a contract when you don't perform as you should the other party doesn't owe you grace to not blow shit up.
