I'm pretty sure that if the author intends on pairing up Hatano with MC they'll go with the "wait until I grow up into a fine and promising candidate" trope, y'know like how they distance each other (probably after graduation or smth) and then after a big time skip they coincidentally encounter each other. At least that's how I've been interpreting how their relationship will work legality-wise.
