the word "puppy" that she often used is just what Korean people used for endearment.
Like grandpa & grandma often call out their grandchild as "Our/My puppy" as in korean "Uri Kangaji".
Or sometimes from the parents to their child.
The sentence: "Aigoo yah, Uri kangaji chal kho so~"
is often used for someone older when they see the person they cared for is doing something nice, or being kind, or being respectful.
The meaning is: "Oh My, our puppy has grown up nicely".
........
So yeah, Diarin does treat him like a child, but not as a dog.
The treatment someone gave to a child and to a loved pet dogs is pretty much similar.
- parents play "catch" with their child? Yes.
- owners play "catch" with pet dog? Yes.
