It looks like Hatano really is endgame - is what I was gonna say if it weren’t for the development of the newest chapter Σ('◉⌓◉’) or it could be the author trolling us and there’s a chance new character will end up with the fiancé childhood friend cuz his hair kinda looks dyed… but we’ll have to wait and see.
Or it could be a bait that happened in the first and second seasons of the live action that they made originally
******spoilers if you haven’t seen it yet ******
Hatano wasn’t really part of the show, they gave his role to the puppy school friend.
Mc was pursued by the classmate who’s hamster died, and at the end of the first season he had an ex show up - I’m wondering if this same development will happen in the next chapters
*****spoiler over*****
With the two of them in the announcement for the new drama series (looks like it’s a whole new thing and not a season 3 of the current series), the ship looks to be set in stone. Logically speaking, it kinda makes sense since they do have the most interactions with each other and seem to represent the age gap troupe of college student waiting for high school student to be of age or classic older uke x younger seme.
Every time MC reminded Hatano of their age gap, you can kinda see it as “I’ll be waiting for you when you’re of age” Ngl I was thinking that Hatano was gonna learn that first love doesn’t always come true, but I guess that’s kinda cruel to do that to him at this point when we’ve come this far
