The real thing is going through his memories cause hes about to “die” again. Like his life is flashing before his eyes except its his past life memories that exist within a different timeline, hence why past Hyo-un questions why he’s there, and why present Hyo-un hasn’t been able to come save/find him like he usually does cause he’s in a different timeline.
