That was a rash and insensitive decision but you clearly know he didnt do it because he didnt care. He was panicking and trying to find the ring as fast as he can. If he did that out of pure indifference or with malice then I agree its trash behavior
He did it because even in that moment he couldn't think about anyone except himself and his problems...he didn't even care to look for the ring until after he got the call, the reaction to someone telling you their family member died shouldn't be the same as as faking calling out of work....
