Oh . . .

I thought the outfit was silly but in a fun and expressive way, but reading all the other comments about it kinda made me feel sick to my stomach.
I don't want to engage with any of them, because they all just feel genuinely mean.
One was asking how a gay man could have a bad fashion sense (which is a stupid stereotype in the first place) but also fashion is incredibly subjective
Plus Seon-woo is totally autistic coded imo, so clearly his view on fashion is unique and always has been. It's based on the things he genuinely likes and wants to wear, not by societal expectations or tends.
I think Seon-woo is incredibly fashion oriented and seems to genuinely enjoy fashion. The idea of a "good" fashion sense depends entirely on how trendy someone is, and Seon-woo (especially in his own mind, where he can actually wear whatever he wants) has no desire to follow trends

Someone else said that TWO GIRLS ONE CUP was better LGBT+ representation
Which, I know this is supposed to be a joke or hyperbole, but it just blows my mind that that someone would even suggest, even as a joke, that fetish scat porn that objectifies women interact with each other sexually ( . . . If you can call it that) is better representation than a neurodivergent gay man in a loving relationship

The fashion thing is just a joke tho, I understand the second one 2 girl thing but you're too serious about the fashion thing...we know it's just a stereotype but that's the joke?! Second of all this is fictional comedy people are gonna respond to it with jokes...unfunny or not I doubt anyone wanted to do any harm, idk how and why you feel sick to your stomach because of that.

It can just feel like autistic people or neurodivergent people are just something to gawk and laugh at
I know it's fiction, but we don't really get a lot of blatant representation like this
People are laughing and making jokes and don't mean any harm, because yes they are just engaging with fiction and I don't hold anything against them for saying these things, but it still feels like the same kind of treatment that teaches autistic kids to keep their autistic traits out of sight
I know that for the most part, there is no intention to be unkind, but there is an underlying tone of rejection to these comments

The fashion comment, wasn't that bad and wasn't really mean either, I just find that stereotype irritating

It's a whole ongoing joke on this manhwa that seonwoo as awful fashion sense, not once as it been confirmed that he was autistic/neurodivergent and not to seem ignorant but wouldn't that mean that the manhwa is just poking fun at the autistic kids too? Lmao I don't think this is something to look too deep into.

Oh the manhwa is certainly questionable, not just for that but also for kind of pushing this idea that Seon-woo has to be taught how to mask (ya know, that whole "glow up" thing) to be accepted not just in his work place but also in his relationship
The relationship aspect does seem to be coming back around to his bf actually seeming to not just accept but kind of like how "eccentric" Seon-woo is
But either way, I don't like that it feels like it's message is pro-masking at times

And yes, the manhwa totally plays up these eccentric traits for comedy, but it feels different when a fictional character rejects these traits than when irl people do

My favorite thing about this manhwa is that I see myself (as an autistic person) in Seon-woo and I read because I genuinely enjoy his character and how he expresses himself (even tho he's not stated to be neurodivergent, he has all the traits, so if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck . . .)
And it can be sad and hurtful to find out that the other readers, people who I would want to have some sense of community with in our shared interest, don't read for the same reason and don't feel the same way about Seon-woo or people like me

And yes, I am probably taking this way too seriously as you'll point out
    It's the autism.
I don't engage in the "right" way
And things that I care about or that might hurt my feelings aren't legitimate because others can't empathize

In the end I'm just talking about my feelings, so it's not like what I say can be proven "right" or "wrong", and it's okay if you can see where I'm coming from

I never thought about the autistic side of Seon-Woo. It all makes sense now. I admit I was just seeing him as a lame and cringe guy with a cute and smart side but him being potentially autistic explains his character and his behavior way better. Thanks for sharing your impressions.
