Also, can you address the scene that Zodi was talking about? I remember it quite distinctly, actually, so I will provide a summary, and you can tell me where I’m misinterpreting things.
Jaekyung, in an apparent fit of jealousy, takes Dan, puts headphones over his ears which are blaring loud music to effectively deafen Dan, puts a blindfold over his eyes, puts a ball-gag into his mouth, a vibrator on his cock (I might be misremembering this one—I believe there was a vibrator somewhere), and seats Dan on his cock, facing outwards so that everything he’s done to Dan will be very visible. Oh, also, I believe Dan might be physically restrained, too, if not by some actual restraint like a rope or cloth binding his hands together, then just by Jaekyung himself. Just a lot of BDSM type stuff going on here. Jaekyung leaves his apartment(?) door ajar so that anyone can walk in and see what he’s doing to Dan. He calls Heesung over but doesn’t explain why. When Heesung arrives, he obviously walks in to see what Jaekyung has done/is doing and is shocked. This part I also might be misremembering, but I believe Jaekyung says something about Dan being his, and how he doesn’t like sharing what is his.
After Heesung leaves, Jaekyung takes off some of Dan’s stuff, including his headphones. Dan asks Jaekyung if anyone had come into the apartment/mentions how he thought he heard someone else talking. I believe Jaekyung lies and says no. I believe this is one of the few times where Jaekyung decides not to proceed with fucking Dan.
Personally, when I read this scene, it is evident that Dan did not want any of what was done to him. He is visibly overwhelmed by everything and based off the fact that he asks Jaekyung whether or not someone else came in—it’s clear that Jaekyung didn’t even tell him why he was doing what he was doing, nor did he tell Dan that he would be displayed in such a vulnerable state in front of someone else. By this point in the manga, we know Dan—I don’t find it a reach to say that he wouldn’t have and didn’t consent to having all that BDSM gear used on him, and he most certainly wouldn’t have and didn’t consent to being put on display for a third party. Besides that, because he is overwhelmed and because he is restrained, it makes it even more difficult for him to even say no even if he wanted to. Nonconsensual penetration = rape. He was raped.
We can have a discussion about what underlying reasons Jaekyung had for doing what he did. Some people might find Jaekyung’s actions to be a display of his underlying but genuine love, care, and affection for Dan. I personally don’t see it like that. Even if I wanted to apply nuance to this and say Jaekyung has real feelings for Dan as a person, I would say that yes, perhaps he is somehow/for some reason unable to express those feelings in a normal, healthy way, but that he nonetheless still raped Dan, and there is literally nothing that changes that fact or makes it right that he did it. But I personally think that Jaekyung only sees Dan as a (sex) object, a toy that he owns and can do whatever he wants with, and this scene puts that idea on full display (ha). If he loved and cared for Dan as a person and not as a toy, he would’ve taken his thoughts and feelings into account, and not put a bunch of BDSM hear on him and forced him on display for Heesung to see, because he would’ve known and cared about the fact that Dan would not want any of that. Instead, he ignored Dan’s own thoughts and feelings in favor of his own. That’s not, to me, something you do to someone you love and respect as a person. He just wanted to show off his absolute control over Dan, his absolute dominance over his body, and how no one else (Heesung) has that control over what is essentially his property.
There is something to be said about the types of kinks this scene is playing into, and how, within the context of a pure sexual fantasy, this type of thing—the BDSM gear, the sensory deprivation, the use of sex toys, the exhibitionism, the loss of control, the power play—would be appealing to some people, and ultimately be consensual. But within the broader context of this story and based off of everything that happened up to that moment, this interaction can’t be taken as just pure fantasy, so it is ultimately nonconsensual.
You tell me, or at least Zodi, TM, what I’m getting wrong with this scene. What details am I missing? What evidence from the story am I neglecting to consider? I will reiterate and admit again that my memory of this scene might be patchy, as I have not recently gone back to reread it, so please, if there are any gaps that need to be filled in, fill them in.
You evidently have time to keep commenting under this topic in response to people who are critical of the webtoon, so my bad if I misinterpreted that as you having time to actually read what someone is saying. I understand, though, reading words expressing complex ideas must be hard for you, which is why a webtoon as simple and weakly written as this one so far is for easier and more pleasurable for you to do than to actually parse through what people are saying and respond to that. That’s okay babes. How about you just keep eating your baby food and let the rest of us talk?
This is my queue to leave as I have once again been presented with the exact scenes where Dan was raped. We already know Dan doesn't want to be seen with Jaekyung (see scene in the gym shower, gym sofa) and of course the anxious Dan asking Jaekyung to deny someone actually came in Jaekyung's place. I have been yapping my chatgpt's lips off, but I will conveniently leave now.

i actually didn't even read jinx like after it's chap 20 was released... i was bored with the tropes by then.. then after the end of season i came back to read it after viewing a comment section on Instagram saying that jaekyung is the most toxic guy they've ever read... and i instantly disagreed with those opinions... i thought maybe the progress of story is now different but after reading it till latest chapter... i still disagree.. i admit that jaekyung is not decent at all but saying that he's the most toxic and black flag is overexaggerating things
dan could've left like he did after his granny's wish... he could've left earlier if he didn't consent to jaekyung not listening to his stops stuff... it was financial pressure on dan but jaekyung is not obliged to consider Dan's financial situation and pay huge sum of money for free.. he's not in love and he's not a super nice guy running charity
The one tryna defend jaekyung and downplay the evident rape in Jinx in this comsec makes me wanna pull my hair out
