He was heavily traumatized from war in his previous life, and the torture that the doctor put him through - leading him to become aggressive and irrational. And his irrationality was further enhanced when he thought his wife was cheating on him (even tho he should’ve had faith and trusted her). Does that make his actions right? No. But this life is very different from his last one.
