I heard that in a few Asian countries, you can only be a tattoo artist (licensed I think) if you also have some sort of medical background. There’s also the stigma so she probably doesn’t have many because it’s hard to find artists but also because it needs to be hidden if she’s working/socialising outside of the yakuza.

It’s because tattooing includes breaking the skin and infections and other stuff can happen. Since they have a stigma against tattoos, it’s better to go to your tattoo artist to help with any problems post tattoo than to go to the doctors for help. Also, it’s just my opinion but all tattoo artists and body modification artists should have a good idea of the anatomy they are messing around with. Piercers also need to know about vital arteries and veins so that they can avoid them when piercing so it makes sense that tattoo art (literally shoving metallic ink into an open wound) would include some level of anatomy knowledge.
Huh. Shes got very few tatoos for a tatoo artist, but i know theres a whole diferent stigma around having tattos in japan vs. Western countries...so thats prob why... ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
