Ch 4 WHY DOES HE HAVE TO EXPLAIN HIMSELF AT ALL TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR HER TO MOVE ON FROM HIM, LIKE BISH HE REJECTED HER, HE SAID NO IM NOT DATING YOU, AND HE SAID HE HAS A GF, THATS FULL REASON TO LET IT GO AND MOVE ON, WHY ARE YOU IN HIS FACE FORCING HIM TO COME OUT TO YOU AND THEN THAT GIRLIE JUST TO “MAKE IT EASY FOR HER TO REALIZE ITS NEVER GONNA HAPPEN” GTFOH

Bro I’m rereading and got pissed at the coworker again, I’ve read a BUNCH of comics and she’s probably in my top 5 most hated characters list

Oh my god, yes, I get pissed at that character every time I reread this. Also, I don't know where she got the audacity to tell him that he 'only focuses on his own misfortunes' (or something along the lines of that) Like bro, of course does, he's the one having to live through HIS misfortunes, why the heck wouldn't he be focused on them???? He doesn't owe anyone an explanation for why he rejected her friend, whether or not he had a gf. Also, is it not embarrassing for her to 'call out his lie' abt having a gf, because all that means is that her friend isn't the type to respect his boundaries and accept rejection.

Ye him saying no was enough of a reason to let go and take the rejection, having a gf or not, being gay or not doesn’t matter,

AND YE ITS HELLA EMBARRASSING FOR HER TO CALL OUT HIS LIE OF NOT HAVING A GF, not only does he not owe her that info, but like imagine if he wasn’t gay, if i was him I’d straight up say “ok ye I don’t have a gf I said it so rejection would feel a little less embarrassing for you but since you’re pushing it let me straight up say no I’m not interested in your annoying ass SINCE YOU CANT TAKE A NO WITH GRACE”

And the audacity to make him not giving an explanation (when he doesn’t owe one) and not coming out(he doesn’t owe it either) as if he’s being selfish while the girlie is making her issues everyone else’s problem LIKE BOOHOO YOU WENT TO AN ALL GIRLS SCHOOL AND ARE SHY OF MEN AND HE MADE YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE, WHOSE PROBLEM IS THAT AND WHY DOES IT MEAN HE HAS TO COME OUT TO YOU IN A HOMOPHOBIC SOCIETY (which you’re too selfish to think of the consequences about) TO MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER, even when he came out to her on the bench, saying he already likes someone AND that it’s a man, she STILL goes all up into his face asking again to confirm “so I have no chance rightttt” YOU DIDNT HAVE A CHANCE EITHER WAY, HIM SAYING NO WASNT AN INVITATION TO TRY AGAIN, IT WASNT A “WAIT TILL IM SINGLE THEN YOULL HAVE A CHANCE” WHATS WRONG WITH YOU LIKE AAAAAAAAAAAA

Literally, and it's the fact that there are ppl like this irl.

For context, I went to an all girls school where most students were homophobic, but there was still a small number of LGBTQ+ students like myself. (We were all closeted tho, except for me and a couple of my friends.) There was also an all boys school opposite of ours, but I'm not too sure about their number of queer students, I do know they were also mainly homophobic. There have been a couple instances of gay friends of mine being asked out by boys from the other school, and instead of accepting the rejection, they would always have the mindset of 'I could turn her straight' and wouldn't give up unless she outwardly said she was dating someone. Like bro, bffr. Even if she was straight, she wouldn't date your ugly ass. The worst part is that they *think* they're being all open minded and accepting, just because they've acknowledged that my friends were gay, but in actuality, didn't actually respect that. Like MC's coworker, they basically just boiled it down to some weird thing that they could fetishise.

(Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, it's currently like 6:50am rn and my head hurts like hell)

Ye makes perfect sense, you brought a perfect example of the level of annoying audacity and delusion of straight men that think they could “turn” lesbians, coworker character isn’t tryna turn him but ABSOLUTELY has the same level of annoying audacity and delusion
