So… what if tomorrow you woke up and discovered you’re actually mentally 95 years old, does that automatically make you a creep for dating someone who is physically your age, but mentally not?

But the kid IS attractive but more like handsome cute kid. You can give compliment to a kid tho and there is nothing wrong with that. She doesn't see that guy sexually so its fine and not really creepy.

If someone has the mental perspective of a 95-year-old but is physically younger, it doesn't inherently make them a creep for dating someone their physical age. there are moral and ethical considerations that must be taken into account. Really depends. If you were physically young but is matured kid thats fine, you were born that way. But if you're someone just like FL who got 29 yrs of EXPERIENCE and got transmigrated into a body of 10 yrs old. Thats different.

I also asked chatgpt for his opinion bro said my question violated rules so i guess theres your answer.

What about Vampires then? Or immortal beings? Edward started dating Bella when she was under age. Do you consider them to be creeps? Or do you not generally read those types of stories, in which case, why read this one?

Also, you’re contradicting yourself. How can it be okay for someone to realize that they are mentally a 95 year old person but be physically young, be okay to date someone their physical age; but not someone who is mentally 29? Plus, she didn’t have romantic feelings for Aiden until they were older. When they were kids she was just trying to use her maturity to help him deal with his abuse (and keep herself from getting on his bad side so he doesn’t kill her later in life).

I also think it has to do with how you phrased the question that caused alarm.

Bro a 10 yr old who suddenly becomes as mature as a 95 yr old is different from a 29 yr old who is transferred into a 15 yr old’s body. The former is just a highly mature teenager, while the latter is an adult with 29 years of life experience in a teen's body. The difference is experience.

A 29-year-old in a 10-year-old's body would likely be seen as creepier due to the awkward contrast between their adult mindset and a child’s body. In contrast, a mature 10-year-old would just be viewed as unusually wise for their age.

Also i do not watch twilight and yes if thats what happened then edward was a creep UNLESS bella was mature enough to be dated. Age gap is fine as long as the other one is mentally mature. Its that simple

Also you make it sound like i dont like the FL. I like her she adores the kid but i was pointing out its a little bit weird for me and i didnt read the whole story. I dropped it but its obvious they got together when they were both older. Duh

She was actually transferred into the body of a 10yr (they were same age when they got married). That being said, we the readers know that her mental age is 29, but to the people of the world she now in habits, she’s just a 10yr old girl; who happens to be more mature for her age (Aiden was also mature for his age). So by your own logic, it shouldn’t be no more creepy than if she was mentally 95?

Another way to look at it is, if reincarnation was a thing, but you kept your previous life’s memories, and you died at age 29 and your current life’s partner (who is still the same age as you) died at age 18. Would it be creepy to date your partner, who is in this life the same age as you, even though you happened to have lived a slightly longer life?

Not judging on whether or not you like the character, I just find it fascinating how people read reincarnation/isakai stories and then get all bent out of shape over the character’s mental age, when they’re perfectly happy reading stories about vampires and immortal beings.

How exactly do you suddenly gain the mental age of a 95 year old?

Besides, yes, even the magical beings thing would be creepy if they actually existed in real life. But, when it comes to stories it's okay because they don't exist in real life. So there is no real life reference that an author or readers can draw from for those kinds of characters. Hence if they look 17, they are usually written as actual 17 year olds and perceived as actual 17 year olds.

Not the case when you are writing based on human models that could reasonably occur in real life. 29 year olds and 10 year olds interact with each other in real life. There are actual 29 year olds and pre-teens reading these stories. When you are writing a character where it is repeatedly emphasised that she is a fully grown adult and behaves and thinks exactly like one, readers are going to see her as one. It doesn't matter than you have given her the appearance of a child. The character will be seen as an adult. Normalising this kind of interaction between an obvious child character and an obvious adult character will normalise any similar real life interactions in the minds of readers, weakening the defenses against such encounters in the young kids reading this and lowering the apprehension towards such behaviour in immature adults or adults suffering from poor psychological health.

If you have a character that is mentally a 95 year old but has the body of a child, have them grow up in to a fully grown, unambiguously adult appearance first, and then let them date 50-60 year olds, whatever, if you want them to be into younger people. Sure, it's still kinda weird but it is not as thoroughly psychotic and creepy as a 29 year old being into a 10 year old. Don't write child character as the initiators or receivers of any kind of sexual interest especially involving adults of any variety, unless you explicitly depict it in a negative manner.

    HyouganeMiyagi September 23, 2024 8:49 pm

If people want to write a main character with precognition, why go this regression route of an adult in a child's body and then create such weird, icky situations? Can't you just write a child character that gets to know what's going to happen in the future by whatever mechanisms the author pleases, and then continue with the perspective of a kid whois living the life of a kid but intellectually knows what will happen in their future, instead of writing fully grown adults with an adult's life experience and mental faculties pretending to be a kid.
