I mean they’re not lovers yet, this was literally their first date, but we’ve known since he first met her way back when that she would be his first wife according to what he learned in the dream world. The romance surely isn’t in forefront of this story and their progression has been soooo slow I can see where it would seem to come outta no where! Lol the jacket thing was probably a artist mistake.
