I can answer that. Rn people are being more truthful in their ratings. Back when that ghost story came out people would just give things 5 stars if it wasn’t the worst thing they ever read. Obviously that would inflate the score. People normally don’t go back and readjust their scores, hell if I drop something I don’t remove it from my subscription and just watch it show up on my notifications until it ends.

There’s multiple components to that. First, we don’t know how things are chosen for front page. It could be algorithmic put also chosen by site moderators. That’s how stories with less than 20 ratings sometimes show up. Second, most people in the comments are rereaders and already decided they like that stuff. Especially if they have an account on here which allows them to comment. Third, there’s a culture of “if you don’t like it don’t read it” which shuts down any critical discussion of works. Meaning extreme content like that, if someone doesn’t like it they just leave and don’t rate, leaving people who have fetishes for that stuff to have an eco chamber. With tame stuff like this, more people feel comfortable reading and a diverse group has more diverse opinions. And lastly, as stated before, we are less in 5-star hell so you’ll notice most newer manga sit around 8.5-9.3. It’s important to not pay attention to ratings and formulate your own opinion. I think we would agree that a lot of people here have bad takes
You stole the words right out of my mouth. Same thoughts exactly. Although it is true that there are many components that affect the featured works, still others usually pop up due to how often it's read. Guess I just can't shake off the feeling of being petty how others can give stories that don't deserve a low rating when trash stories gets higher ratings lol. I mean, I read stories base from the synopsis and a bit biased for the ratings and checking for the comments to see if it's a good read. They affect one's view in what to expect from the story. Also, it is interesting to see others formulate their opinions about the stories whether they like it or not. In the end, it's up to me if I will read it or not. Man this was a fun discussion haha. I hope others were not so much of an ass when discussing here on mangago.
Forgot this reply, I actually forgot what's the name but can still remember the cover and it's premise. The seme isn't actually dead but I think he was in a coma that's why he's in his ghost form and haunts the uke. Either one of them has white hair and black hair. Cover looks a bit erotic, palette is blue and pink and the author has other stories like the goat x predator manga?? I'm so forgetful, there are so many things I read for the past idk years here
Yep, this was a fun discussion! I also wish people were more open to different opinions here. I mean why have a discussion area with no discussion. I’m more optimistic for the future though, I’ve been on this site going on 10 years and it’s certainly gotten better.
