I mean, I think so. The Hawaii arc is really bad but after that he gets I wouldn't say better but not as bad. He is mentally ill and doesn't have/ process emotions like a normal person, so he will never be perfect. He's way better than tops in a lot of stories. I haven't completed the novel, so maybe he gets really bad again at some point, but so far, it's not bad. Based on the comments here, I was expecting him to be way worse, but I feel like people read the Hawaii arc and then dropped it.
Iirc, there's a slight character development but not much redemption arc, since there's never going to be a way for ml to redeem himself
SPOILERS:
Ml is mentally ill (he has a personality disorder). But throughout the story and until the very last conflict, he gets more considerate to uke. He tends to meet uke halfway and has learned to restrain himself (not always, but most of the time. Compared to now and in the past where ML just doesnt care enough for uke's feeling or health).
The "epilogue" part is sweet tho, knowing what ML did for MC after. (=・ω・=)
So... will there be a character development or not?
