Dude I hate confinement with a burning passion, especially when they chained somewhere like the bed, unable to do anything except laying there and is basically forced to depend on the other party to take care of them THE BIGGEST ICK. It’s why I cannot read “tree without roots” like imagine being deduced to literally nothing but a living sex toy to someone but still need to rely on them EUGHHHHH
Its not that dark but you know this plot in which the ML has the MC's completely under his control? But like exclusively when the MC is oblivious to it.
Their life falls apart:
-Can't find a job and when they do they get fire rlly quietly (the ML threatens the owner to fire MC)
-Are in debt bc they're bad at handling money (ML is pulling strings to worsen the debts and fooling MC into thinking its their fault)
-Decides to do/don't do smth in a extreme situation (ML created the whole situation to leave MC w no choice)
-has very few friends and the ones that are around are very noisy (ML makes sure NO ONE gets close to them and the ones that do are being paid off to watch over MC)
It's a type of manipulative abuse that I just can't handle at all, I would rather ML was physically abusive than this concept of being tied down w/o your knowledge
Ew. Sums it all up. Currently I’m reading Perfect Match (not manga but novel. Chinese). And Chinese novels are great at making MLs so trashy, abusive as hell, and still them ending up together.
There’s one where the ML beat MC and even let his family hit MC, and when MC finally wants to leave, he can’t even leave.
Meatbun is the author of 2HA. The ML was loved by the MC for two lifetimes, but due to plot treated the ML very poorly in the first lifetime. It’s a cultivation story and the ML is immortal and took in the MC as a disciple when he was 16/17. It’s seen as a sort of one sided love till after decades of being apart and other drama finally end up together. Then the author decides to include a sidestory basically implying the ML always loved him from day 1. It was also out of character because ML didn’t have emotions at the time
I want to hear what people find dark in stories that are dark? What are things you cannot accept no matter how much the author tries to normalize it?
Personally I hate cheating as much as I hate SA/Murder.
