I think what happened is the charm worked, but since he already had feelings for perseque, his lust was directed towards her rather than the elf. So when he was charmed he hurt himself so he wouldn't pounce on perseque who he values as his closest friend.
What just happened? I don't understand a single thing from these 2 chapter. So he wasn't charmed but he somehow acting weird? But what does it have anything to do with perseque??
