Also, the emperor keeping tabs on shuri really made me think that maybe the reason why he lets theobald get closer to shuri bcuz somehow it remind him ludovika and him before (projecting his past on both of them)

Food for thought; maybe that gaudy necklace was something the emperor gave Ludovica when he was courting her. And yknow, since Johannes likes her, seeing Shuri receive that gift made him even more of a crazy sonavabitch.
Maybe that's why Shuri is traumatized seeing the necklace again.
Anyways, Johannes is a fucking dirty and stinky shoe. He thought of Shuri as a rose and "planted" her where he thought best *eyeroll* but in the end, the soil was poison and she was torn apart, figuratively and literally.
