I don’t think he “liked” her in that sense but my memory is so bad man, I thought the novel just said that he helped her when that happened and when they met again he just remembered her
if i’m not mistaken he knew all along because he was a double or triple agent or something, he knew the guy she worked with was the one murdering her parents and kept his eyes on her. but yeah, he didn’t like her that way until she actually made a move
