You don't get it because you prefer TJ, and that's okay, at least Ian doesn't think the same as you.

Tj boring as all he has is a fuck up past he mostly put himself in for those 16yrs. So sorry we like someone who's a bit more stable and can actual show Ian wonders he never experienced, like camping and traveling rather than staying coop up in one place his whole life. (Ian has a license now and can travel to places for jobs that's he's be wanting)

Plus we already know enough of tj, doyak still has Jo in the shadows and hasn't shown his capabilities so he's more unpredictable and that's what's more entertaining than already knowing how predictable tj is.

But not everyone needs "stability". Many people are perfectly happy, even thrive under uncertainty. For poeple who have lived their lives on the fast lane, settling down in a white-picket fence house in the suburb while "good for them" never actually works out. They need to be out on the streets where it's lively and yes, dangerous.

I can't believe you actually think that. Though yes everyone is different in how they want to live but in regards to Ian, he has shown that he needs stability. He literally does not want to be in the fast line as it's been shown he wants out of the dangerous life (even some official synopsis confirm it). And how would you know what's good for them never works out? You're not everyone. There are plenty of those who actually work out their life after doing that's best for themselves. Ian wants freedom and how that thrives is up to him but it definitely isn't the dangerous gang life he wants to live. Ian wanted out near the beginning and he still hasn't changed his mind about that for decades.

I think what you mean to say is that Ian is conflicted about whàt he really wants. So, you cannot conclude that the wants the quiet life just because he wants freedom. What people want and what they do are often completely different. We'll just have to wait and see how Ian's conflict resolved in the end.

I get we all have our own preferences, but like you can’t be saying this knowing TJ has pretty much trapped Ian to stay where he can reach him by putting him in debt, sending him to jail, and stopping him from continuing his passion.

I didn't say he needs a quiet life I said he needs a stable life. Not all stable lifes are quiet... some can be adventures as well. Ian might not understand his deeper feelings as he tends to push then down but it's quite obvious he does want a better life than what he's in now and that's far away from dangerous.

It doesn't really matter what TJ did to Ian in the past, fact of the matter is that it is not an easy decision for Ian to just pick Jo because he isn't ready for the "quiet, family life" that Jo is offering. Otherwise, he'd have taken it. It also doesn't look like he's quite ready to give up the life he had TJ even though he seems to be seeking "freedom" from it. Time will tell what he chooses in the end.

But that is clearly not the case since Ian shows that he DOES need stability and is not cut out for the street life. He is NOT conflicted about what he wants in this regard, he KNOWS that he does not want to live the gang life and that has been shown TIME AND TIME AGAIN sometimes with him almost begging to be let go of. This whole series is contrasting the wants of TJ and Ian which are ENTIRELY DIFFERENT in regards of lifestyles and a reason why they don’t work together. You’re clearly rooting for the toxicity which idgaf but what you’re saying is simply lacking and just not true in any way ☠

Again, not so simple for Ian to choose this "stable" life as you call it. In my opinion, he needs more than stability. He needs stimulation, excitement and I don't see that in what Jo has offered. Of course if Ian determines this excitement no longer matters to him, he will settle with Jo as he does like that part of Jo. However, it's clear that he's ready to give it all up for a simple life with Jo which is why we're still here.

What do you define as the “excitement” that Ian needs? Let’s also not forget progress is not linear and moving on from this environment can’t be a case of “dropping everything and moving on” in Ian’s situation. Have we forgotten what TJ did last time he feared Ian quitting the gang? Also just because you find Jo boring, it doesn’t mean our protagonist thinks so as well

While I agree change is not linear, Ian is struggling with making a decision despite the "perfect" life Jo has shown him. My interpretation is that while he does not love some aspects of his current life with TJ, he doesn't hate everything. If he did, he'd have made the switch to Jo by now. So, the decision to choose Jo is going to be based on more than the "safe, stable" life that Jo is offering at the moment. He need the parts of his life with TJ that he is reluctant to let go of as well (whatever that is).

In my humble opinion, what Ian is reluctant to give up is the thrill and excitment of being with someone that lives in the fast lane. Dangerous it may be, there are actually people who need that thrill like a drug, and they continue to seek it out their entire lives even if it kills them in the end.
