I think there's not a lot of abortion in romance fiction (not just BL) because if the plot didn't need it, the pregnancy wouldn't even happen in the first place. It just doesn't make sense story telling-wise to insert something as life changing as pregnancy and not have it serve a purpose.
It's not exactly bad writing. Like, if mc gets pregnant in ch 1, has an abortion in ch 2, and then we never hear about it again, it's a waste, isn't it? If the use of pregnancy as a trope is a conscious decision, then the author would of course try to use it as much as possible.
I read an omegaverse danmei once where the beta mc had an abortion and it was sad af. The readers are never not reminded that the mc had an abortion, even when things were getting good. The author marinated the whole story in angst and it made me heart heavy but i still finished the whole thing. ╥﹏╥
In situations like these it makes you wonder why bl authors don’t leave the abortion option open. Even if the male lead is raped in an omegaverse they’re made to keep it even if they don’t want it
