What do you mean a pair of the knight. The knight got together with a kid he was supposed to protect?
They only found out they were a pair when the lion got older so dont worry, there was like a history about a legendary lion with black fur, and so their child was always compared to him, the knight was kinda like a support system to the lion and when he got older thats only when they realized the knight was his pair.
Still a bit weird tho. Wish they avoided that trope

The last image showing chika, gail, doug, theo and lek is kinda a spoiler to what their child will be ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~ TWINS one human and a lion (the human will be theo’s pair), while the lion who resembles chika for having black fur will be the pair of a knight assigned to protect them.
Next child will be gail’s - a human but will be paired from a dragon tribe so his growth and life span will be slowed. On this arc it was also explained on how chika was transferred to their world
Next is doug - triplets ( forgot if they are lion/human)
Last is gail - one resembling doug (but a bear tribe) the other is gail (a human if i remember right)
