That was my first thought ofc.. But then I thought, what about all the years that Yvonne wasn't there? When he was cruel and blamed her.. when she was a kid... for falling off a wall? etc.. The only thing I can say is he was written that way.
But just like Reynold was mind controlled , for an instant, and then he ran after her because he knew something wasn't right and he didn't feel that way. So, I think Derrick just sucks, haha
