I did the same and omg the book was sooooo much better in this scene. Like I feel like they tried to make her brother too sympathetic in this scene. They needed to lean into his anger.
I honestly sobbed reading Ruby's speech in the book and her finally standing up to her brother.
The part where she gets slammed into the mirror by her brother was insane.
