there’s a book by a japanese author titled “Goth” that this manga reminds me of.. i wouldn’t say that the book and this manga are similar, at least in plot, but the overall feel is the same. Goth is about a highschool boy who is very interested in true crime; though his curiosity is a rather dark one. he goes out of his way to find people committing crime near and around where he lives, not in order to help victims, nor does he do it to help police- he does so purely out of curiosity. anyways! this boy killing the bullies just for a date, and not for any other “moral” reason reminded me a little of the mc in goth. it’s a pretty quick and interesting read. the mc’s perspective is really unique. he’s very smart, and very manipulative with very skewed morals- just like this story’s mc. long winded way to say they’re similar lol.

He just witnessed the crime when it happens? Isn’t that just worst though?

what do you mean by “worst?” i don’t understand. and if you’re asking whether or not the mc in goth just witnesses crimes- yes and no. he finds murderers amusing so he goes out of he way to egg them on. he interacts with them for his own entertainment, so he’s not an innocent bystander at all.

welp, in terms of moral ofc. that’s pretty fucked that it peek my interest. did the bully in that story ever get ‘punishment’ or the would move on from the finished one with no conclusion?

i’m still a little confused, but you’re asking if one is worse than the other morally.. i’m not sure. the murderer in the manga is murdering to “help” someone, even if he has his own motives aside from “doing the right thing,” so it’s not black and white. in goth, the boy, while he doesn’t murder anyone himself, is not as morally grey. he’s just.. a bad person. like, he finds a dead body but doesn’t report it to police, he discovers multiple murderers but doesn’t go to police- he even turns a blind eye so that they can escape, his only real “friend” he has a sick obsession with. she's almost murdered multiple times and his concern usually lies with whether or not he’ll be able to witness her murder. the way he’s written, he’s definitely going to harm someone in the future. the book kinda just.. ends. there’s no real resolution. he just goes on with his life. if you’re interested, the book also has a manga. i just found out about the manga a couple days ago, and it’s pretty good! a lot easier to follow along with than the actual novel. it does leave out some things, but you’re not missing much. anyways, if the story premise interests you, i definitely recommend! it’s a very unique plot, and the main character is very unique. the manga is very graphic though!! more than this one!!!
