I've been listening to Dir en grey - Oboro for the whole second season. It really fits the angst, uncertainty in my opinion.
Recently while rereading some of the first season I happen to listen Dàmaris Gelabert - Mareta. I had no idea what the lyrics meant but I've checked a moment ago and it kinda.... might fit too?;D
Oh and C.R Jade wrote once that she and Ananas where listening to this: "이건 듣자마자 취향저격.. 심규선 - 밤의정원" - I copied from YT - while discussing Gwiyagok's plot (for a whole afternoon or evening, I don't remember). I love it too, I wish there would also be a version without the vocal;)
Thank you for mentioning Ahn Ye Eum, her music seems very interesting I'll listen to it some more.
Wow, I haven't heard anyone mention Dir en grey in a long time! They were my inaugural visual kei band. Gonna have to revisit their discography whilst reading—you're right, very angsty and apropos. Thanks for sharing your choices! And that trivia about what the author and artist were listening to.
I hope you'll find something you like with Ahn Ye Eun's music. One of my favourite song is "Changgwi", which is inspired by a Korean ghostlore of the same name. It's kind of eerie and unsettling, and reminds me of Jaeshin in the early chapters.
Wha~ no way! I'm shocked:D I was sure there's no way.
X-Japan, DeG and MUCC marked strongly my youth days;) I prefer "old" DeG bc I'm not fan of shrieked lyrics and heavy mess for the music (I don't mind some justified screams though) and the "old" MUCC bc later they have too happy-light phase;D I still can find pearls in those bands, like Oboro, after all.
I like pansori since I've seen "Seopyeonje" I guess. I bet you know it?:D There was another one about Chunhyang too. I wish I could listen to pansori understanding it.
What do you guys listen to when you read manhwa?
I love listening to Ahn Ye Eun when I read Ghost's Nocturne. Her voice and pansori musical style complements the historical setting so perfectly!
